Degree Requirements
The Bachelor of Science in Renewable Energy Engineering follows a rigorous curriculum, requiring a minimum of 180 credit hours, which takes approximately four years to complete. To be eligible for graduation, students must maintain a 2.0 GPA. In addition, a final grade of “C” or better must be earned in all courses with MATH, CHE, PHY, EE, ENGR, MECH, and REE prefixes. Students must also earn a grade of “C” or better in all courses listed as prerequisites for these courses.
Renewable Energy Engineering Electives*
9 credits of technical electives are required. At least 3 of these classes must be REE 300-level or above and up to two courses from the following list: 300- or 400-level EE courses (except for EE 320), ENGR42X, or SEM42X. No more than three 1-credit courses are allowed. Enrollment in graduate-level courses at the undergraduate level requires special approval. Examples of acceptable elective courses are:
EE 341 Electricity/Magnetism w/Transm
EE 343 Solid State Electronic Devices
EE 347 Digital Logic
MECH 433 HVAC
REE 307 Seminar
REE 331 Fuel Cells
REE 333 Batteries
REE 335 Hydrogen
REE 344 Nuclear Energy
REE 345 Wind Power
REE 348 Solar Thermal Energy Systems
REE 407 Seminar
REE 427 Greenhouse Gas Acct/Footprints
REE 439 Energy Systems Auditing and Management
REE 453 Power System Analysis
REE 454 Power Syst Protection & Ctnrl
REE 455 Energy Efficient Building Dsgn
REE 469 Grid Integration of Renewables
Senior Sequence**
3 courses/9 credits of Senior Sequence is required. Classes must be at least 400-level. See your Academic Advisor, the program website, or Degree Works for sequence options.
Notes:
CHE 201/CHE 204 and CHE 202/CHE 205 can be substituted with CHE 221/227 and CHE 222/228 respectively
REE 201 + 1 engineering credit may replace EE 101/102 for Portland Metro students
